FDA Guidelines and Allergies
The FDA recently issued more guidelines in an attempt to help guide food manufacturers when food labels might be rendered inaccurate due to Covid-related supply disruptions or shortages. I think many Americans can understand the reasoning behind the new flexibility in labeling guidelines.
However, there is one huge issue with this.
People with allergies depend on accurate ingredient lists for their health. These guidelines jeopardize the health (and life) of over 10% of the American population.
A better solution would be to require the addition of sticker labels when ingredients change when there is more than a simple reduction/elimination of certain ingredients.
Our lives depend on accurate food labels!
